Drafted: Selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the eighth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Cal State-Fullerton ... signed by Josh Belovsky. Previously, was selected by the New York Yankees in the 38th round of the 2007 Draft, but did not sign.
The St. Louis Cardinals selected Erik from the Brewers in the 2011 Rule 5 draft. Komatsu spent the 2011 season in the Brewers' and Nationals' organizations. He was named the Brewers' Minor League Player of the Year in 2010.
As a Rule 5 pick, he was designated for assignment after Allen Craig came off the disabled list on May 1, 2012.
He was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Twins on May 4th.
Before spending his junior year at Cal State Fullerton, was a First-Team Western State (North) Conference selection at Oxnard College in 2007 ... also attended Vanguard University of Southern California ... graduated from Camarillo (Calif.) High School, where he was a teammate of Delmon Young.
OXNARD/VANGUARD: Transferred to Oxnard College in 2007 and played one season for Head Coach John Larson • As a Condor, he hit a team-leading .417 with 10 home runs and 51 RBI and was named to the Western State (North) Conference first team as an outfielder and also received all-state recognition • Led the state in hits (75) and total bases (127) and also finished in the top 5 statewide in doubles (18, 4th), home runs (10, 3rd), RBIs (51, 3rd), slugging percentage (.706, 4th) and average (.417, 5th) • Was a 38th round draft pick by the New York Yankees in the 2007 MLB first-year player draft • As a freshman in 2006, he hit .329 with 8 home runs and 33 RBI at Vanguard University under Head Coach Scott Mallernee.
CAMARILLO HS: Was a three-year letterman for the Scorpions under Head Coach Richard Jaquez at Camarillo High School • Was a two-time All-Pacific View League honoree and earned first-team All-Ventura County recognition as a senior after hitting .380 with 8 home runs in 2005 • Academically, was named a Scorpion scholar athlete • Missed his junior season due to a shoulder injury.
MUSIC: Music has always been a big part in his iife and he is very passionate about it. Started doing music in high school as a hobby. Has been making Hip Hop music for about eight years.
